Malaga: Europe’s Sentinel and Epicenter of the New Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence

Introducing EUSECRAL: A strategic hub at the University of Malaga leading research on security, peace, and integration in the Mediterranean.

Malaga is more than just a city; it is the strategic gateway to Southern Europe. In this privileged enclave—where security and cultural coexistence are vital to the future of the Union—the EUSECRAL project (Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Security, Integration, Prosperity, and Peace) has been officially launched.

Directed by Prof. Dr. Ana Salinas, this center transcends the traditional classroom. It is a living ecosystem where law enforcement, legal experts, intelligence services, and intercultural mediators collaborate. Our mission is clear: to strengthen European values against modern threats such as disinformation, organized crime, and radicalization.

What are we building?

  • Cutting-edge Research on EU Law and the Area of Freedom, Security, and Justice.

  • Technical and Academic Training for students, civil servants, and security forces.

  • Public Diplomacy, exporting European values of freedom and justice to partner countries including the Philippines, South Korea, and Nepal.

Supported by international institutions like the European Society of International Law (ESIL) and the UMA Faculty of Law, EUSECRAL is already looking toward a major milestone: the 2026 International Conference in Malaga.

The future of European security is being written from the South. Welcome to EUSECRAL!
